Landscape Design in Evansville, IN
Custom landscape designs for Evansville yards, with a written plan and quote before any work begins.
Scaled layout drawn to your specific property.
Plan selections suited to Evansville's climate and your site conditions.
Hardscape planning for patios, walls, and walkways.
Phased build-out options to fit your budget.
Written installation quote tied to the finished design.
Most yards in Evansville don't have a problem with grass or plants. They have a planning problem. Beds get put in wherever there's open dirt, mulch gets refreshed year after year without a clear edge, and hardscape ends up dropped into spots that don't quite connect. After a few seasons, the yard looks busy but not intentional. That's where a proper landscape design changes things.
A design gives you a plan on paper before a single plant goes in the ground or a single paver gets set. You can see how the pieces fit together, catch anything that doesn't work, and build in phases if your budget calls for it. Hausmann Outdoor Solutions puts together landscape designs for Evansville homeowners who want the end result to look like it was always supposed to be there.
What's Included in a Landscape Design
Every design we put together is specific to your property. There's no template pulled from another job.
A site walk-though to measure bed, grade change, existing trees, and drainage patterns.
A scaled layout showing plant placement, hardscape zones, and bed shapes.
Plant selections chosen for Evansville 's climate and your yard's sun and soil conditions.
Hardscape placement for patios, walkways, retaining walls, or other features you want to add.
A phased build-out option if you want to spread the project over more than one season.
A written quote tied to the plan before any work starts.
The design and the installation quote go hand in hand. You know exactly what you're getting and what it costs before anything is committed.

What Happens Without a Plan
Skipping the design step is one of the most common reasons landscape projects end up feeling unfinished.
A homeowner picks out a few plants they like at the nursery, puts them in an open spot, and repeats that process over several seasons. The result is a collection of things that individually look fine but don't read as a yard with intention behind it.
The same thing happens with hardscape
A patio gets poured in whatever space was available rather than positioned to take advantage of shade, privacy, or how traffic actually moves through the yard. A retaining wall gets added where erosion forced the issue rather than where it would look natural and create usable space.
Starting with a design doesn't mean every detail is locked in permanently
It mean you have a framework so that each piece you add, whether this season or three seasons from now, fits into a larger picture that makes sense.

Our Process
01
Initial Call
We talk through what you want the yard to do, what you don't like about it now, and what your budget range looks like. This keeps the design grounded in reality from the start.
02
On-Site Walkthrough
Zach or a member of the Hausmann team walks the property with you. We measure, note drainage and grade issues, look at existing plants worth keeping, and photograph the areas well be working with.
03
Design and Plan
We put together a layout showing bed shapes, plant type and placement, and any hardscape elements. The plan is drawn to your property, not a generic lot shape.
04
Review and Adjust
We go over the design with you. If something doesn't fit what you had in mind, we adjust it. You should feel confident in the plan before we move to pricing.
05
Written Quote
Once the design is dialed in, you get a written quote for the full installation. No surprises when the crew shows up.
06
Installation
When you're ready to move forward, we handle the landscape installation according to the plan.
Signs You Need a Landscape Design
Not every yard needs a full redesign. But these are situations where starting with a plan almost always saves money and frustration later.
You're starting from scratch on a new build or a yard that was never properly landscaped.
You want to add a paver patio or retaining wall and need to know how it fits with the rest of the yard.
Your current beds and plantings look random or overgrown and you want a fresh direction.
You've tried adding plants year after year and nothing seems to tie together.
You're planning a project in phases and want the whole picture mapped out first so nothing conflicts later.
Drainage or grade issues are causing problems and you want the landscape to help manage water flow.

How Phasing Works
One of the most useful parts of having a landscape design in hand is that it makes phasing straightforward. You can install the front beds and walkway this year, add the backyard patio next year, and fill in the planting beds the year after that. Because the plan accounts for all of it upfront, nothing you do in year one gets in the way of what you want to do in year two.
Without a plan, phased projects tend to create conflicts. A tree gets planted where a patio was eventually going to go. A bed shape gets established that doesn't leave room for a future walkway. A retaining wall goes in at a height that limits grading options later. A design eliminates those problems before they happen.
If budget is the reason you're thinking about phasing, tell us that on the first call. We can structure the plan and the quote so the most important work gets done first and nothing is wasted.

What It Costs
Landscape design pricing depends on the size of the property, the complexity of the project, and how many elements are involved.
A small front-yard refresh takes less time to plan than a full backyard with hardscape, planting beds, and grade work.
We don't quote projects from photos or descriptions alone
After the walkthrough, you get a written quote that covers both the design and the installation work. That way you're comparing the full scope, not just a design fee in isolation.
If you're on a tighter budget, tell us that upfront
We can phase the plan so the first year's work fits what you have to spend without throwing away the long-term layout.

Do I have to use Hausmann Outdoor Solutions for the installation if I get a design from you?
We put together designs with the intent to install them ourselves, so the quote you receive covers both. If your situation changes, talk to us directly and we'll work through it. We don't bill a separate design fee as a standalone service.
How long does the design process take?
It depends on the scope. A smaller project with defined beds and a straightforward layout can move from walkthrough to a finished plan in a couple of weeks. Larger projects with multiple hardscape elements may take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline at the walkthrough.
Can you design around plants I already have in my yard?
Yes. Part of the walkthrough is identifying existing plants that are worth keeping and building the new plan around them. We'll flag anything that's diseased, overgrown past its useful life, or in a spot that conflicts with the new layout.
What if I want to add a patio or retaining wall as part of the design?
That's common. We design and install paver patios and retaining walls, so those elements can be included in the same plan and the same quote. It's easier to integrate hardscape and planting together from the start than to add one after the other is already in.
Do you do commercial landscape design or just residential?
We work on both. If you have a commercial property in Evansville, Chandler, or Newburgh that needs a landscape plan, give us a call at (812) 453-7757 and we can talk through what you need.
